Festival of Tolerance – 2nd Sarajevo Jewish Film Festival closed
On Sunday, October 27th, 2nd Sarajevo Jewish Film Festival was closed. At the Festival, we presented 14 films which attracted more than 1200 people. The screening of the film which opened the Festival, "When Day Breaks", was attended by around 170 visitors. The crowded Meeting Point cinema graded the film with very high grades. The film which got the highest average grade by the audience is "Numbered", but we need to mention that the Sarajevo audience apprised all of our films.
As a part of the Festival, we also realized the "Anti-Masonic posters" exhibition at the Gallery 11/07/95, with the great help from Tarik Samarah. The exhibition will stay opened and free of charge until November 4th. There was a big interest for the exhibition, and the Opening ceremony was very successful and excellently covered by the media.
Network for Peace Building, as the partner of the Festival, led with Goran Bubalo, helped us to make our Festival as successful as possible. Mr. Bubalo helped us to engage young and enthusiastic volunteers. We hereby thank all of those young people who invested a great amount of their free time to help us in realization of the entire program.
On Sunday, at the Closing ceremony of the Festival, our guest Magdalena Želasko, the Founder and Director of the LET'S CEE Film Festival in Vienna, presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to our Honorary president Branko Lustig. During her moving speech, she read the message of Steven Spielberg who, among other things, said: "Thank you Branko for coming into my life." Thus, in the most beautiful way, we came to the film "Numbered", the last film of our Festival, which in fact got the highest audience grade.
Hereby, the organizers of the Festival of Tolerance – 2nd Sarajevo Jewish Film Festival would like to thank all the partners and sponsors who made possible the extension of this so much needed manifestation throughout the region. We hope that the success of the Festival in Sarajevo will show that the tolerance is an international word needed by everyone, the message of which we must spread around the world.
